Looking to hire a PPC Consultant?

One of the DMU's largest groups are our PPC consultants - an incredible bunch of people who have to combine creativity and data analysis to run a variety of complicated ad campaigns, all while keeping pace with the ever changing landscape of ad regulations and algorithm updates.

Here's the most common questions brands ask us when looking to hire a PPC consultant...

What does a PPC Consultant do exactly?

A PPC consultant will most often be the person who develops and implements a paid ad strategy in order to deliver relevant traffic to a website that generate leads and sales from a range of ad platforms.

Much of their time is spent on:

  • Testing variables (such as copy and imagery) to see how a campaigns performance is affected

  • Making adjustments based on changes to a platforms algorithms

  • Planning budgets and campaigns for certain periods throughout the year (such as Christmas, summer, or Black Friday)

  • Reporting on results - both on Ad campaigns and landing page performance

What channels do PPC Consultants work on?

Most PPC Consultants will be working on a wide range of paid channels. The most common is Google Ads (which will also incorporate Google Display Ads, Remarketing and YouTube advertising).

Alongside this, many consultants will also manage campaigns on paid social platforms using Instagram & Facebook (Meta Ads), LinkedIn and TikTok. However, some prefer just to focus on Google.

Certain consultants will also focus on channels which are more specialist; for example Reddit or Amazon. It is rare to find a PPC Consultant that also specialises in SEO too.

Each consultants skillset is different so you will need to contact them to see which is right for you and your objectives.

How much do PPC consultants charge?

The pricing for PPC services varies but you would typically expect to pay at least £500.00/month for access to a UK consultant, in addition to the ad spend.

Prices quoted are typically tied to the monthly ad spend. Less often, prices can also be based on a specific set of deliverables, the number of hours worked or an agreed commission based on the number on sales generated.

Prices are typically quoted for based on Ad management. You would expect a different price and pricing structure for an Ad Audit, Strategy or Training.

It is also very common for a fixed fee to be charged as part of a setup process due to the amount of work required to launch an Ad campaign if a brand is new to PPC advertising.
